The Faculty of Medicine Foča trains nurses in a four-year Bachelor programme with clinical practice at the University Clinical Centre Foča from the first year. The English-taught track is open to international students without a numerus clausus. We are the faculty's official partner for international students and handle admission, visa and housing for you.
Foča is a small university town on the river Drina in the east of Bosnia & Herzegovina, about 80 km from Sarajevo airport. Small cohorts, short distances between faculty, clinic and housing, and a growing international community make it an easy place to focus on your studies.
Programme structure
- Year 1: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, introduction to nursing and first clinical practice
- Year 2: pathology, pharmacology, geriatrics, paediatrics, infectious diseases, propaedeutics on the ward
- Year 3: internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, psychiatry, primary and palliative care
- Year 4: public health, radiology, pedagogy, research methodology, specialty nursing and graduation thesis
Nursing curriculum at the Faculty of Medicine Foča
Four years, eight semesters, 240 ECTS. Every year combines theory with clinical practice at the University Clinical Centre Foča and mandatory professional placements during the summer.

Tuition fees and living costs in Bosnia & Herzegovina
Tuition
Considerably lower than Medicine – current fee schedule on request. Nursing at Foča is one of the most affordable English-taught nursing degrees in Europe. We send you the current fee schedule within one working day.
Living costs
Around €400 to €550 per month for rent, food, transport and insurance. A room in a shared flat costs roughly €150 to €250. Foča is far below Western European price levels.
Payment
Tuition is paid per semester, not per year, which keeps the financial planning manageable for families. There is no agency fee hidden in the tuition.
Admission requirements
You need a secondary school diploma that qualifies for university entry in your home country and good English. There is no numerus clausus. Admission runs through the faculty's annual application round for international students; we prepare your documents, the nostrification of your diploma and your registration, and we make sure you meet every deadline.
Students under 18 can enrol: our team in Foča acts as your legal representative on site, which is a requirement for minors in Bosnia & Herzegovina.
