After graduation: your career options

Most Malaysian students who come to Foča are building a long-term career in Europe — and the MD from Foča is the right degree for that. Students who later decide to return to Malaysia can apply for Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) provisional registration and then full registration after a two-year housemanship.

Working in Europe

We do not stop at Germany. We support graduates into their first post as a doctor in Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, France, Italy, Norway and Sweden. Germany in particular faces a structural shortage of doctors: after graduation and German at roughly B2 level you can apply for Approbation, the German medical licence. We look at your specific situation and tell you which country fits your career plan, then guide you through the recognition process and the applications.

Returning to Malaysia — MMC

If you plan to return to Malaysia, graduates of medical schools listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) may apply to the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) for provisional registration. The Faculty of Medicine Foča, University of East Sarajevo is listed in WDOMS. After MMC assessment and two years of supervised housemanship in Malaysia, you can obtain full MMC registration and practise as a doctor in Malaysia. MMC may also require an assessment or examination — always verify current requirements at mmc.gov.my before enrolment.

Transfer into a higher semester in Germany or Italy

You do not have to finish all six years in Foča. After your first semesters we can apply on your behalf for a transfer into a higher semester at universities in Germany or Italy: we handle recognition of the exams you have passed and send applications to up to five universities.

Requirement: German at B2 level for Germany, Italian at B2 level for Italy. We can connect you with a language teacher who can get you to that level while you study.

Recognition and transfer requirements may change and are decided case by case. Always verify current MMC requirements at mmc.gov.my, and the requirements of the destination university, before enrolment.
