community pharmacy

The Offizin is the dispensing and consultation area of a community pharmacy — the space where customers receive medication, counselling, and over-the-counter products. It is the core operational area of a retail pharmacy.

community pharmacy

The term distinguishes the community pharmacy from the hospital pharmacy, the pharmaceutical industry, and regulatory bodies. Anyone working in the Offizin has direct patient contact: dispensing, counselling, medication analysis, and checking for drug interactions.

At least six months of the pre-registration year must be completed in a community pharmacy.
